Lymes’ Senior Center Board of Directors Meeting  
December 17, 2018


PRESENT:  Jeri Baker, Gary Weed, Doris Hungerford, Don Abraham, Sue Campbell, Kathy Lockwood,  Doris Johnson,  Johnny Cody, Joni Bonvicin, Diana Seckla, Dot McAndrew, Stephanie Lyon-Gould

GUESTS:  Ann Griffith.  Was recognized for her service to the board and will be a board member emeritis.

CALL TO ORDER:  Jeri Baker at 1:00

MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 19, 2018 MEETING:   A motion to accept November, 2018 minutes with corrections was called for by Gary Weed.  Joni Bonvicin seconded.  Unanimous approval.
Corrections to the minutes:  GUESTS:  should read ...Diana Seckla, Treasurer of Friends, accepted….  Add:  Bonnie Reemsnyder and Steven Mattson, First Select of Lyme and Old Lyme attended.  BUILDING USE:  Gary is looking into renting three moveable exterior lights.
Delete last sentence.  OLD BUSINESS:  … Requested that Doris Johnson, Corresponding Secretary,............

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Doris Hungerford -  Treasurer’s Report for November 7 - December 18, 2018 was accepted as submitted.

COMMUNICATIONS:  Jeri Baker -  read a thank you card from Peg Shann

COMMITTEE REPORTS:  

        Director’s Notes:  Stephanie Lyon-Gould - November visits to Center - 2146
Stephanie Lyon-Gould will be on vacation from December 26-31st.  Cheryl will be in the office during Stephanie’s vacation.  The Center is Closed on Dec. 25th.  Center hours from Wed. 26 to Monday 31st will be 9:30-1:00.  
Anonymous donor gave 12 twenty dollar Big Y gift cards for the Food Bags.  The Page Turner Club gave $250 to be used for gift cards for the Food Bags.  High Hopes gave a $50 donation for use of the parking lot during the Holiday market.  
Past programs - The Old Lyme Town Band on December 2nd had about 95 attendees.  The Wed 12th Lyme Senior Center dancers was a huge success with about 135 people.  
Stephanie introduced, Carol, the new Kitchen Manager to the members of the board.

Building Use:  Gary Weed -  The two lights out in the parking lot to be replaced with LED.  Eventually all will be LED.

       Special Events: Stephanie Lyon Gould - Upcoming Big Events
Holiday Luncheon with OL High School Select Singers Performance December 20th at 12:00pm
Free pizza party and showing of  “Holiday Inn” on Monday December 24th at 12:00pm.
New Programs - Starting January/February - Fitness Fusion, Indoor Bocce Ball, Ballet for Seniors.  

OLD BUSINESS:

        Policy Committee Update - first draft reading:  Jeri Baker - Presented the draft of Senior Center new policies.  The board has 30 days to review.   The draft (with suggested changes) will be voted on at next meeting.  
        
        Memorial Garden Update - list pending:  Jeri Baker - Bricks will be added once a year on a day to be determined by the board.

        Hall’s Road Improvement Plan update:  Jeri Baker - Jeri Baker and Don Abraham attended the public forum and summarized the results for the board.
        
        Other Old Business:  Jeri Baker - The planning for the new addition is ongoing.

NEW BUSINESS:  

        Recognition of Ann Griffith’s Service to the Board:  Jeri Baker - Ann was presented with a $50 gift card to Rosemary & Sage in appreciation for her service.

        Other New Business:   Jeri Baker - The art exhibit at Town Hall is being extended for another month.  Stephanie Lyon-Gould - Eagle Scout Projects - Horseshoe pits and a movable stage for outdoor concerts are possibilities being considered.  Jeri Baker - Jeri and Stephanie will be drafting a letter of thank you to two EMS people who had donated time to the Center.

ADJOURN:  Meeting adjourned at 2:10.  Gary Weed moved to adjourn.  Johnny Cody seconded.
